Lawndale Valentine’s Party!

February 18, 2012

The Thursday before Valentine’s day, Dena and I went to a party at Lawndale, an art gallery here in Houston. Here’s a picture of the art + the kissing booth:

If you haven’t been to Lawndale, you need to go! It’s on Main St. and it’s free! The best part about the party was a free photo shoot! When we walked through the door, there was an eager photographer waiting to take our pictures.

How cute are we? I really love that new beige shirt I’m wearing. I want to wear it everyday.

Also I have new men’s Sperry boat shoes which Iam LOVING. Are sperry’s too 2008? I’m not sure but I’m loving mine.

They kept telling us to pose in different ways, like a ballerina or other silly ideas. Not sure what we’re doing here? Dena is obviously getting in trouble by me.

The best part was the CAKEWALK. It was $5 dollars to participate and Dena let me walk. I wanted to win a cake SO BADLY. I got super competitive.

I wanted to win that squid cake. All the cakes were made by local Houston artists. There were also kittens and bunnies on the cake.

The walk started and there 6 people competing. I quickly beat out the competition by walking like a pro. There a couple weak looking girls wearing heels. I beat them easily. The cake walk was intimidating. Everyone was watching me and cheering. I forced myself not to be scared.

Here’s me before the walk started. I am actually super scared. I don’t know if you can tell.

Look at my crazy eyes. I was so scared. See that guy behind me? At the end of the cake walk, it was just he and I. He was a big ol’ guy; in fact, he knocked me off the last chair. We both went for it at the same time. Everyone screamed and I got embarrassed so I scaled back on the competitiveness.

There we are, the final countdown. He won. If you’re reading this blog, guy who won, you owe me a cake.

When we were walking out, there was a bulletin board where you could post your “missed connections”. So we left a link to our blog 🙂

What did you all do for Valentine’s day? What are some of you favorite art places to visit?
